## Compare country work, not a global page quota

The comparable unit is a market-specific release, not a global page quota. Ask each bidder to price the research, local editing, product-fact validation and implementation needed for one category and one product path. A large count of lightly adapted pages is not equivalent to a smaller group that a local team can verify and publish.

Make one sample task travel through the full workflow: brief, source check, translation or transcreation, template change, regional linking, approval and rollback. Record which steps the agency controls and which depend on your commerce platform. That exposes delivery risk before the proposal is reduced to a monthly fee.

Your comparison sheet should keep launch work separate from catalogue maintenance. Products go out of stock, delivery terms change and market teams revise terminology. Price the handover and recurring checks while the assumptions are still visible.

## Price the full localization workflow

Ask each SEO bidder to distinguish market research, translation, local editing, product-fact validation and publishing. These are separate tasks even when one supplier coordinates them. Compare a representative category and product page through the full workflow. Record how many review rounds are included and who resolves conflicting brand and local feedback. A quote based only on words or page count hides the work that determines whether a shopper receives an accurate offer.

## Request a template-level acceptance sample

Have candidates explain how they would validate one category template before extending changes across markets. The sample should include page rendering, navigation, canonical choices, regional links and current product facts. Keep the implementation owner in the review because the agency may not control the commerce platform. Ask how the team detects an accidental change to another storefront. The strongest proposal makes cross-market dependencies visible instead of describing every country as an isolated content project.

## The working sequence

- Compare country work, not a global page quota

- Price the full localization workflow

- Request a template-level acceptance sample

- Compare maintenance after the initial launch

- Review the next bounded decision

Move to the next stage when the evidence is usable, not simply because a calendar date has arrived.

## Compare maintenance after the initial launch

Products go out of stock, ranges change and markets acquire different delivery terms. Ask who updates the pages and how the SEO team learns about those changes. Distinguish a launch fee from continuing catalogue maintenance. Agree which recurring checks are automated and which need a person with commercial knowledge. A provider that produces attractive launch pages but leaves no update process can create avoidable inaccuracies later; the commercial comparison should include that handover burden.

## What to put on the comparison sheet

On narrow screens, scroll the table to see all columns.

## Translate each workstream into an acceptance test

For a technical fix, require affected URLs, the intended change and how it will be checked after release. For content, require the buyer question, source material, editorial owner and publication responsibility. For reporting, require metric definitions and access to the underlying data.

Clarify whether the agency can make changes or only advise your internal team. A recommendation dependent on six weeks of engineering time has a different delivery risk from a change the provider can implement. Put those dependencies on the comparison sheet rather than hiding them in meeting notes.

## Inspect how the provider handles risk

Ask about staging, approvals, redirects, important templates and rollback responsibility. A traffic-sensitive migration deserves a different level of review from a paragraph correction. Keep ownership of accounts, domain settings and published assets explicit so changing providers does not interrupt operations.

Google advises caution with promises of guaranteed rankings and recommends understanding what an SEO intends to change. Ask the team to explain its reasoning in plain language. Refusing to reveal the work because it is a secret technique prevents you from assessing both effectiveness and risk.

## A question for your next meeting

Which localization task will you price end to end so every proposal uses the same acceptance test?
